Played on a par-70 layout at The Club at Irish Creek, a Davis Love III signature course, the event will feature a non-traditional format with four scores counting from six-man lineups instead of five-man lineups. The Club at Irish Creek has held PGA Tour Qualifying rounds annually since 1998 and also hosts the North Carolina Open.
Live scoring will be available via Golf Genius, with 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts for 36 continuous holes Monday and the final 18 holes Tuesday.
App State's six-man lineup will consist of Ben Read, Alex Martin, Herman Huus, Josh Buxbaum, Colin Browning and Aidan Browning. Rob Bergevin, Jack Seward and Charlie O'Shea will compete as individuals.
On March 11, Huus won the individual title as App State placed second as the host team of the Surf Club Invitational in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The other teams in the field this week in Kannapolis are Charleston Southern, Francis Marion, Howard, Jacksonville State, Lehigh, Marquette, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morehead State, North Carolina A&T, Old Dominion, Presbyterian, Queens, Radford and WKU. There will also be individuals from Charlotte and UNCG.
Jacksonville State is the reigning team champion, edging both Radford and WKU by one stroke apiece with a 3-under total through 54 holes in 2024.

KANNAPOLIS, NC- NC State Baseball made the most of its time in Kannapolis Tuesday night, scoring 13 runs across the first four innings while holding Davidson scoreless for a 13-0 win from Atrium Health Ballpark in the Cannon Ballers College Series Game.
It was NC State's (15-6) ninth run-rule victory of the season and third shutout, as the Wolfpack won their fourth-midweek game of the season, surpassing their total of three from last season.
Nine of the 13 RBIs came from three hitters. Chris McHugh had a three RBI night on two hits, which included his fifth home run of the season. Brayden Fraasman had a three-hit night, scored three runs, and drove in three. Luke Nixon doubled and homered to finish with three RBIs as well.
Making his first collegiate start and seventh appearance overall, freshman Anderson Nance (2-1) earned the victory after going 3.2 innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out a career-high eight batters.
Following Nance, Jaxon Lucas, Derrick Smith, and Jacob Dudan combined to allow just one hit, no walks, and five strikeouts.
Davidson (6-13) starter Brycen Champey (0-5) only recorded one out before exiting the game with a final line of four hits, six runs, a walk, and a strikeout. The Wildcat's four hits were all singles.
NC State was in control from the start, sending 10 men to the plate in the first inning, scoring six runs on four hits. McHugh started things off with a three-run home run. A Fraasman double scored Alex Sosa, who had gotten on base via a walk. Matt Heavner brought Fraasman in with a single to left field, and Ty Head used a sacrifice fly to score Nixon, who was on third.
In the second inning, the Wolfpack continued to get their bats on the ball. Making his Wolfpack debut, Trenton Lyons doubled down the left field line and would come around to score after another Fraasman double. Nixon, who entered the game leading the team in doubles, added another to make it 9-0.
Josh Hogue hit his third home run of the season in the third inning to make it 11-0. In the fourth, it became 13-0 after a two-run home run from Nixon. NC State recorded eight extra-base hits and was 4-9 with runners in scoring position.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — As construction is happening all across the city of Kannapolis, questions pop up about how the area is managing its explosive growth.
Just last week, the city’s planning commission denied a rezoning request that would have allowed a developer to build 324 townhomes. Despite the rejection, the proposal will go before the city council in May — a sign of continued pressure to accommodate new housing demand.
“Probably over the last 10 to 15 years, the city has been heavily growing,” said Richard Smith, planning director for the city.
According to Smith, more than 6,000 residential units are currently pending approval, with roughly half of them slated to be multifamily apartment complexes. A city map outlines dozens of developments in the pipeline, spanning residential, commercial, mixed-use, and industrial projects.
Much of the growth stems from a downtown revitalization effort launched in 2015. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 40 new businesses have opened in the downtown area, including Sweetest Beginnings, a local shop that has benefited from the city’s resurgence.
“We love the growth out here,” said Susan McRae, the owner of Sweetest Beginnings.
But rapid development has also created growing pains, particularly with the sewer infrastructure.
“In July of 2021, our Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County (WSACC) made us aware that we had some constraints [in] all jurisdictions that WSACC serves,” Smith said. “Kannapolis is 30% of what’s processed at that station there, so we actually were made aware that we’d be limited, so we started proactively planning for allocations of any future projects.”
WSACC had two expansions planned to address the issue, according to Smith. The first is already underway, but the timeline for the second remains uncertain. Without additional capacity, some new residential developments may not be able to build for another three to five years.
“From a planner’s perspective, it's a really good approach because it kinda keeps a grasp on how the growth occurs, ” Smith said.
Smith emphasized that the city is not halting development altogether, despite what some in the community believe.
“We have a lot of things coming before us, but we have a lot of developers and community folks that think we have a moratorium going on because of the allocation thing, but that's far from the truth,” he said. “We just have to plan them out and do it very methodically.”
City officials say just under a dozen developments are currently waiting for allocation.

The Wolfpack enter the midweek contest 14-6 after winning their first ACC series over Virginia Tech over the weekend. NC State will look to start a new win streak after the Hokies snapped their 11-game win streak on Saturday in game two of a doubleheader.
Last year, the two programs met in Charlotte, with NC State victorious 22-7. The Wolfpack come into Tuesday's game with 12 straight wins over Davidson, with the last win for the Wildcats coming in 2000. The Wildcats won the first meeting in 1940, 6-5, while NC State holds a 91-31 overall record in the series.
NC State leads the ACC and is 28th in the country in On Base Percentage, entering Tuesday's contest at .453. Freshman Ty Head leads the Wolfpack with a .643 OBP, which is third in the conference. The Freshman is also sixth in the nation with 24 walks, averaging 1.20 walks per game.
PROJECTED STARTING PITCHERS: RHP Anderson Nance (NCSU) vs. RHP Brycen Champey (DC)
NC State has thrown three complete games this year; Ryan Marohn is just one of four pitchers in the nation to throw two complete games this season. Friday Starter Dominic Fritton tossed a seven-inning complete game against Virginia Tech, making NC State one of four teams to have multiple starters toss a complete game.
Pitching, as a whole, has been a strength for the Wolfpack this season. Their 18 strikeouts thrown against Canisius is the second most by an ACC team this season, only trailing Wake Forest, who had 20 in a game.
Freshman Anderson Nance will make his first collegiate start on the mound Tuesday night. Nance has made six appearances out of the pen and holds a 3.94 ERA. In 16 innings of work, Nance has nine strikeouts and three walks and is holding opposing batters to a .254 batting average.
Luke Nixon hit his first home run of the season in game two against Virginia Tech to secure the victory. He leads the Wolfpack in runs scored with 23, doubles (8) and triples (2).
Transfer Chris McHugh continues to make an impact in the Wolfpack lineup. Heading into Tuesday, McHugh has reached base in 13 straight games. His .400 batting average is 10th best in the ACC, and his 29 RBIs are third-most in the conference. McHugh has totaled eight games this season with multiple RBIs and seven games with multiple hits, including being the only Wolfpack player with a four-hit game and a five-RBI Game.
Head, McHugh, and Nixon have played in all 20 Wolfpack games this season in the same position.
Following the trip to Kannapolis, NC State will stay on the road and travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Pitt Panthers for a three-game series over the weekend beginning on March 21st.
